This website has been authored as part of a structured curriculum for the teaching of various disciplines of English, to supplement learning directed within the National Education framework in England. It intends to contribute to existing learning delivered for the National Curriculum and examining bodies and is not intending to replace a school curriculum. Discipline Of English does not intend to meet fully the needs of examboards such as AQA, Eduqas, Pearson etc, and these examboards require core teaching delivered by a school system.

An example of where Discipline Of English curriculum will not meet the needs of examinations; it does not teach core textual detail and bears little reference to core exam texts. Though examples from across literature are referred to, these exemplify an analytical expression and are not a guided study of a core text. Neither does the website teach specific exam skills and does not claim to guide a student through a specific exam.

The teaching and learning presented in Discipline Of English supports analytical expressions in a way that supplements, not replaces an English curriculum.

Discipline Of English promotes facilitated learning; that mentors, parents and tutors can support students using the knowledge presented on the website, but does not propose that this website delivers all of the learning needed for qualifications. Where home learning is delivered following the Discipline Of English curriculum, it is strongly advised that an ofsted certified practitioner is sought for advice and guidance.

Further, whilst the website promotes independence, autonomy and freedom of learning opportunity, it does not replace an important function of a school, that of safeguarding. Safeguarding is a legal responsibility of a school environment, and home learning, hybrid learning, facilitated learning cannot provide this. Neither can the website fully meet the needs of special educational needs students, English as an additional language of pupil premium students. The relationship schools provide to these students is often a determiner of outcomes.

The intellectual content, lesson sequencing, selection of academic terminology, and methodological explanations contained within this document are the original work of Aaron Swan, produced for educational use within DisciplineOfEnglish.co.uk.

Many of the images across the site are generated through AI as illustrative of the concept discussed on the page. They are vetted before publication, but should any AI image be inappropriate, please get in touch so that we can check standards are being maintained. AI is generally not used for the written copy and the vast majority is written based on reading, research and experience. Some articles are supported with AI generated content, but again this is vetted by the qualification and experience of the writer. DoE strives to rely on human generated written copy as this provides the greater originality than AI generated copy, which can only ever recycle what is already known.
